Situated between tavistock and okehampton lydford is also near the devon/cornwall border and means that the rugged north cornish coastline the picturesque south devon coast and many other great destinations are less than an hour's drive away. Situated on the scenic road between tavistock and okehampton mallard house is close to the southern end of the national trust's spectacular lydford gorge with its footpath following the river lyd from the white lady waterfall near to mallard house to the swirling devil's cauldron at the northern end. For everyone who likes walking the gorge and the nearby open areas & tors of dartmoor provide excellent excursion opportunities. Whilst having accommodation in lydford you will also have easy access to north south & west devon including dartmoor okehampton tavistock exeter and plymouth also north south & east cornwall. There are many excellent walks and cycle trails across the moors and around the local area including the granite way which runs adjacent to mallard house. Cycle hire is available at sourton only a few minutes away by car.
