With both a wednesday and saturday market in its huge market square, this little town is set in gently rolling farmland amongst a wide range of walks throughout the area. The most well known of these is perhaps the recently reopened ten mile walk along the river ure, renowned as being 1 of the best walks in the country. Home to the popular black sheep brewery which now brews eleven million pints of beer a year, the town is also home to a good range of crafts, galleries, shops, restaurants and pubs. With the popular towns of ripon and harrogate just an short drive away, there’s a lot to see and do in this wonderful area.
