Set in gently rolling farmland, the town boasts a very large market square, which is host to a regular wednesday and saturday market. There are lots of walks available throughout the area, including a recently reopened 10 mi. Trail along the banks of the ure, arguably 1 of the best of its kind in the country. The town boasts a good range of crafts, galleries, shops, restaurants and pubs though is perhaps best known as the home to the black sheep brewery, now producing eleven million pints of beer a year! The popular towns of ripon and harrogate are an quick drive away and offer a wide range of facilities and things to do.
