built in the 1700s, this cottage has been sympathetically restored and decorated to a very high standard throughout.

The restoration has retained many original features, such as a cast-iron range with an open fire to create cosy winter evenings. The patio-garden to the front of the property has its own garden furniture, from which you can soak up the sunset with a glass of wine and enjoy the spectacular view of the surrounding countryside. Two beds provide comfortable and stylish sleeping accommodation for groups of up to 4 people and the sitting room is spacious and relaxing. There is also off-road parking for up to 2 cars.

staithes is a quiet fishing village, tucked away and well protected from the sea. It is a picturesque village with a small harbour draped with fishing nets. However, it has a tempestuous and fascinating past, involving great storms, tales of smugglers and pirates, of the armada and of captain cook, of great fishing fleets and the massive ironstone industry. The cottage in which captain cook lived when he was apprenticed in the town still stands and there is a heritage centre dedicated to his story. Staithes has also served as inspiration to many artists who came to capture the stunning sea-scapes. The village itself now has many amenities including bistros, pubs and shops and there are many attractions in the area including the dracula experience in whitby, the museum of victorian science and, of course, the splendour of the north yorkshire moors national park.
