Job Details Role Title:Major Incident Room Manager (West) : HC616684 Location:Western PIC, Southampton Starting salary:Scale SO2, GBP 36,996 : GBP 39,036 per annum plus weekend enhancement Contract: Permanent Hours: 37 hours per week Closing Date: Sunday 2nd June 2024 at 23:59 hours About the role In the role, you will be responsible for the efficient running of a Major Incident Room (MIR) as defined by the Major Incident Room Standardised Administration Procedures (MIRSAP) and support the Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) in the management of serious and complex investigations. You will also be responsible for the management of the HOLMES and Word Processing Support teams. : In consultation with other supervisory MIRSAP roles, advise the Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) on the level of staff required to carry out the administrative duties efficiently.: Ensure that staff working on live investigations are aware of their impending duties, updating them with any developments in the enquiry.: Brief Major Incident Room (MIR) staff and new staff joining an existing enquiry and, if appropriate, arrange for a scene visit or viewing of a scene video.: Attend all briefings held by the SIO / Deputy SIO and ensure that other key MIRSAP roles within the MIR attend all briefings. Ensure these meetings are recorded and a briefing book maintained.Be prepared to train additionally as Action Allocator and Receiver.: Support the development of the Major Crime Support Team be means of identifying areas for learning and assume ownership for elements of professional development within the department in accordance with the wishes of the department head.: In liaison with the HOLMES Indexing Team Leader, continually monitor the quantity of documentation for processing at all stages, evaluating the documents and amending priorities as necessary.: At all times be aware of developments in the investigation and keep the SIO informed, ensuring the Current Situation Report documents are maintained.: Manage all requirements for resources including accommodation, records of staff employed, overtime, vehicles, equipment and communications.: Prepare, maintain and monitor incident budgets.: Liaise with the Action Manager, keeping up to date on all high priority actions, assess resulted actions, checking that they have been dealt with satisfactorily and raising further actions where necessary. For more information please see the role profile Additional Requirements The role holder may be required to move between MCS sites in within Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, and must hold a current full drivers licence and be prepared to take and pass a Force driving course if required. The post holder would be required to give regular and effective service whilst being flexible in terms of role, location and hours depending on the enquiry. The core hours would be in line with the MCS duty rota, however a significant degree of flexibility will be required. In the case of an investigation meeting the Serious Crime Analysis Section (SCAS) criteria or National Injuries Database support (NID) ensure that full case papers are submitted. To perform roles within other HOLMES base enquiries, such as Disaster Victim Identification and Child Rescue Alert, as is required by the SIO. Essential Qualifications Educated to QCF Level 4 OR work experience deemed to have brought the postholder to a comparable level. Essential Experience Has a proven investigative track record in criminal investigations and can demonstrate recent exposure (within last 2 years). Considerable practical experience relating to the Police and Criminal Justice System. Experience in analysing, assessing and making decisions from large volumes of written and electronic information.
