Abbeyfield Houses are attractive homes accommodating residents in their own bed-sitting rooms with en-suite facilities and emergency call alarms. Residents will enjoy the use of a communal lounge, dining room and attractive gardens. A warm and homely atmosphere has been created by staff and local volunteers who are linked to the house. You may struggle to prepare meals, clean, or perhaps feel that you have better things to do with your time? At Abbeyfield Houses these services are available at an affordable cost. At least one, and often two, home-cooked meals are provided daily and served in the communal lounge.
Who is Abbeyfield For?
Anyone aged 55 years or over who would enjoy living in a house with a group of other residents and is sufficiently mobile. Abbeyfield is open to all; preference is usually given to applicants in greatest need; there is no upper age limit.
What are the Charges?
Abbeyfield charges are inclusive of food and all utility bills with the exception of your telephone bill and any additional domestic bills. Details of charges are available on request.
Will you need to ask me about my financial circumstances?
Abbeyfield will need to ask you how you will meet the house charges and will request that you sign an agreement to pay, help in claiming assistance with charges will be given if appropriate. All personal information is always treated in the strictest confidence and in accordance with the Data Protection Act. Abbeyfield is pleased to assist you in claiming benefits you may be entitled to.
I currently receive personal care from a private carer or Social Services. Can this continue?
Yes, any care package you have in place can be continued in your new home. Should your requirements change at any time, advice about local services can be made available.
What about a telephone and television?
A telephone point is available in each room. If you wish to install a telephone this would be at your own expense. You can use your own TV in your room and may be eligible for a concessionary TV licence.
Could I bring my pet?
